Urla Şarapçılık Grape Varieties

There are eleven types of wine, and the winery gained recognition in 2010 with the Arkitera Architectural Award and 300 national and international wine production awards under the name Urla. Annually, 80,000 visitors visit the Urla Winery Vineyards.

Urla Şarapçılık has vineyards of approximately 550 decares producing around 300,000 litres of premium quality boutique wine annually. Besides the Italian and French grape types such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Nero d’Avola, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Sangiovese, Petit Verdot, Turkish varieties such as Boğazkere and Bornova Misket have been initiated. They have revived the Urla Karası and Gaydura varieties, which had been extinct in the region. Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Narince, Viognier, Grenache and Mourvedre are also cultivated.

Urla Şarapçılık Viticulture

In the winery, they apply a flow technique with the natural force of gravity; processed grapes are automatically poured into stainless steel and oak tanks. The wine flows into French oak barrels using the same method. Because no pump is used, the wines are not traumatised and do not lose anything from their peculiar, delicate aroma and flavour.

With technically superior equipment and varied barrels in the winery (Ganymede, horizontal, oak, etc.), flexible production can be undertaken for each kind of wine to get the best result. In this way, successful results are obtained using product quality. The winery has a modern equipped and advanced laboratory, and the life in each barrel is constantly monitored.

Urla Şarapçılık Wine Tasting

In the afternoons, the winery has paid wine tastings every 30 minutes, which include a wine production tour. Despite the extensive tasting rooms and the snack accompaniments with the wine, note there is no regular cafe or restaurant in the facility. The winery can arrange corporate events and has arrangements with a catering organisation for high-level and large-scale dining and tasting functions in the gardens. There is also an exclusive two-room hotel onsite.
