In 2023 the Çeşme municipality erected a sun terrace in front of the castle on the southern end of the central promenade. The terrace has splendid views across the bay of Çeşme, the marina entrance, and the Aegean Sea; ideal for sunbathing, observing the movement of yachts into the harbour or catching the sunset over the Island of Chios. The decked wooden terrace includes many free-to-use sun loungers, reclined seating and picnic tables and chairs. There are five sets of steps giving ease of access to the sea. Below the decking are free public toilets, changing facilities and shower rooms. Adjacent to the changing rooms is also a self-service café, “Teras Kafe”, that stocks snacks, ice creams and hot/cold beverages and is licensed to sell beer. Note the sun terrace area does not have any parasols or shaded areas.
