Statera Vineyards (Statera Şarapçılık) in Urla was founded by Lena and Alihan Haydaroğlu, who planted their first vineyards between 2010 and 2016 in Özbek, Urla. Inspired by the Latin word “Statera,” meaning balance, their philosophy seeks harmony between nature, tradition, and innovation. Spanning 55 decare of limestone-rich, calcareous soils on hilly slopes, the estate uses single Guyot training with low-yield viticulture for greater grape complexity. After expanding around 2017, their first estate vintage came in 2022, marking the launch of their wines.

Statera Vineyards Production
In the vineyard, Statera farms sustainably and with great care. They avoid systemic chemicals, maintain low yields (approximately 1.5–2.5 kg per vine), implement grass cover to prevent erosion, and perform manual tasks such as green thinning, weeding, and leaf removal. Their terroir, characterised by limestone bedrock, clay-loam soil, and exposure to cooling winds, helps moderate ripeness and enhance minerality. The estate utilises modern machinery to minimise its carbon footprint, reflecting its balanced approach between tradition and efficiency.
Their winemaking combines gentle, modern techniques with oak ageing. Grapes are hand-harvested when cool, then destemmed and pressed at low pressure. Whites ferment slowly (14–18 °C for 10–20 days) in stainless steel, followed by 3–6 months of lees ageing. Reds are aged in medium-sized French oak barrels (300–500 litres) for 6–12 months. Current production is around 20–30,000 litres per year, with a capacity of up to 50,000 litres, emphasising quality over quantity.
Statera Wines
Statera Vineyards in Urla produces a carefully curated selection of wines made from both international and native grape varieties, carefully cultivated on their estate. Their white and rosé wines include an oak-aged Fumé Blanc (from Sauvignon Blanc), a rich, barrel-fermented Viognier, and a refreshing rosé made from the Turkish grape Öküzgözü. Their red wines feature elegant blends: a Cabernet Sauvignon–Syrah–Öküzgözü blend, a Cabernet Sauvignon–Syrah blend, and a Rhône-style GSM combining Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre. Recently, they have also grafted Bornova Misketi, a local aromatic white grape, indicating a growing emphasis on native varietals. All wines are estate-grown and reflect the calcareous soils and coastal climate of Urla’s Özbek region.

Statera Vineyards Winery and Wine Tastings
The winery itself is a blend of functionality and design. Built in exposed concrete with a basement for processing, fermentation, maturation, and bottling, accessible via ramp, the design integrates a steel-structured tasting room above, reached by a spiral staircase through oak barrel storage. The tasting space, featuring stone walls, steel columns, and concrete beams, echoes the area’s architecture and integrates climate control for optimal humidity and temperature. Visitors are invited to tour their vineyards, cellar, and enjoy guided tastings of estate wines.
Their distinguished lineup spans varietal whites, blends, and rosé, all crafted to express Urla’s terroir. For visitors, the combination of a vineyard walk, cellar tour, and tasting room offers both educational and sensory pleasure, precisely the harmony that Statera stands for. As of July 2025, the wine tasting was priced at TL 400 per person (approximately equivalent to €8.50) for a five-glass selection including two white, a rosé and two reds.
