Limantepe Şarapcılık

Limantepe Winery was established in 2011 when its owners first planted their 1.7-hectare vineyard in Kavacık village, southwest of İzmir. In 2013, they increased the total area of vineyards, acquiring the grounds near central Urla, the future location of their winery. The company name, Limantepe, is the name of the section of town near the seaport of Urla, which dates back to 4000 B.C. and was, in ancient times, one of the most important ports of olive oil and wine.

Before 2011, Didem and Haluk Çelikel, the owners whose origins are from Izmir, were attracted to winemaking and viticulture while living in Istanbul. After reading an article on Urlice, they visited the vineyards, exceptionally inspiring Didem and Haluk, while the open sharing of know-how from Urla Sarapçlılık helped them solidify their dreams. With the establishment of new vineyards, Limantepe Winery completed its production facilities in 2021. They plan to grow local red grape varieties in this region in the coming years and grafted Boğazkere grapes on the land in front of the vineyard.
