Attending the cinema in Turkey is generally inexpensive (approx. €3.00) and open to non-Turkish speakers since films are usually screened in their original language and subtitled in Turkish. The exception is for family films that might be considered to be targeted at children, where they are usually dubbed into Turkish. On the Biletinial website, films only in Turkish are typically listed as language “Türkçe”, whereas cinema in the original language is marked as “Turkish subtitles”. Even if films are in English, they will still be titled on posters and advertising with their Turkish-translated name.

The Çakabey Cultural Center is located above the MM Migros on Ataturk Boulevard, close to the entrance to Çeşme. Apart from acting as the main cinema, the hall hosts theatre productions, shows, conversations, and dance performances. The venue is available for courses, training and meetings and has a seating capacity of approximately 300 people.
The cultural centre runs a summer (from early July) theatre course for ages 7-8, 8-12, 13-17 & 18+ and in the autumn/winter, a children’s choir for ages 8-14 years old. See the Facebook and Instagram social media links below for details (in Turkish).
